Which row am I on? Am I supposed to start with a knit or a perl?
Am I even knitting and perling properly?
Comparing what I'm doing to the diagrams in "Knitting For Dummies", I look to be all bass-akwards.
Ah well, so far I've produced 12" by 24" of something that seems to be holding together.

Your knitting looks great! Keep at it!
If you want to learn how to do a true moebius (one that uses a special cast-on and doesn't involve knitting a long rectangle that's sewn together at the ends), check out the works of Cat Bordhi. This link to an appearance on the DIY network might be helpful.
One thing I really love about the moebius cast-on: NO PURLING! (Well, not if you don't want to purl.) Yippee!
Good luck!
